Important: This is the SECOND edition of our Close-Out program on the Davis Bynum Russian River Single-Vineyard Pinot Noirs.
Save HUGE dollars (savings revealed at the end of this offer) on case lots of 2005 Davis Bynum Single-Vineyard RR Pinot Noirs. Case of 3 wines/4 each-$440. Cs of 6 (2 of each) -$225.00
We offered the 2004s' in April...your response was gratifying and we thank you. Many who purchased the ‘04s' (and had time to pull the corks on a couple of them) have been inquiring as to when the 2005s' would become available...that time is now.
As promised, this is the follow-up offer on close-out pricing of the 2005 Davis Bynum Single Vineyard Russian River Pinots. The legitimate reasons for the existence of this offer are detailed below. Once again, if you (or anyone you know) dig rich, extracted, fruit-driven Pinot from some of
*All three of these wines are from the outstanding 2005 Vintage, a year rated "91" by the WS "Sleek, balanced and elegant; ripe with lower alcohol levels" "92" by Parker "Excellent".
If I prematurely reveal how much cash you'll save in buying this box you'll probably dismiss the entire offer as BS. However there are legitimate reasons for the price differential between the Suggested Retails and our asking price for the wines.
O.K. Wine Boy, I'll bite...what's the deal?
(Those of you who purchased the 2004s' may want to skip the next paragraph.)
You're paying these prices for the following reasons... A) The Davis Bynum FACILITY and VINEYARDS were recently (3/08) purchased by the Baker family of
That's it. There are no other reasons for this dramatic price reduction; they are incredibly delicious Pinots and for what its worth I didn't rate any of them under "90".
Legendary winemaker Gary Farrell was Bynum's chief enologist from 1978 until the late 1990s'.
The three wines described below were made from grapes grown at the Allen, (think Williams-Selyem/Rochioli) Laureles and Lindley's Vineyards located in the Russian River AVA.
These Pinots were bottled at the Bynum Winery; they were then transferred to a temperature controlled warehouse. Wines which are never shaken & trucked long distances or are subjected to warm storage conditions retain their freshness and youth far longer than those which must go through the three-tier wholesale/retail distributor system common to the American market. You'll see and taste these differences.
Apparently, the 2005s' were approaching release when the Bynum/Baker sales negotiations began; hence their availability was put on hiatus. None of the S-V wines were reviewed by any of the respected wine journals (Parker, WS the CGs', Food & Wine etc). The wines were set to be released at $55.00 and $75.00 price points.
*4-2005 Davis Bynum Allen Vineyard Pinot Noir:"94-96"...Dark, purple/blue; nose of blackberry, moist wood (the wine spent 10 months in French oak) vanilla and strawberry compote; silky texture, medium-bodied with flavors of blackberry jam, tea, pastry spice, over-ripe blueberry reduction sauce; fantastic wine/beautifully balanced and drinking great now...will develop and reward with a 18-24 months in the cellar. (This wine has a suggested retail price of $75.00/Bottle).
*4-2005 Davis Bynum Laureles Vineyard..."92-93"/RC...Purple/red
blue color; odors of bright, ripe red raspberry, blueberry compote and cherry, spice, cedar; very forward fruit flavors of ripe strawberry, boysenberry jam, Dr. Pepper, vanilla and cream soda; beautifully textured, perhaps a half-shade lighter in body than the Allen Vineyard; balanced slightly tannic finish. I'd open this one before the Allen however that's not to say this wine wouldn't benefit from a year or two; still very vibrant and youthful. (Winery price of this wine-$75.00)
*4-2005 Davis Bynum Lindley's Knoll Vineyard "93"/RC...Dark purple/blue, casts a red shadow in intense sunlight; odors of sweet, boiling strawberry jam, blackberry, tea, sandalwood, vanilla and baking spice; tons of raspberry and black cherry fruit framed by sweet vanilla and spice, silky with a sexy texture and creamy finish; great wine. (Winery price $55.00)
O.K. Now that I've provided the details and ratings I'll divulge your savings. The Allen and the Laureles Vineyards sport suggested retails of $75.00, the Lindley's Knoll $55.00. (Verifiable via the web) Therefore, this case, if purchased at "suggested retail" would cost $820.00 and given their lineage, vineyard sources, incredible quality and neighborhood (Williams Selyem, Gary Farrell, Rochioli) would be priced competitively
Because of this exclusive (it really IS exclusive) offer, you pay $440.00...nearly 50% off retail and WELL below wholesale. I can't emphasize enough that this is a ONE TIME ONLY deal.
*12 Bottle Case of 2005 Bynum Single-Vineyard Pinots-$440.00.
