World's Best '06 Champenoise Brut Rose Value

Simply the finest TRUE Champagne styled Bubbly Value on the market...Graham Beck's 2006 Brut Rose' - $210.00/Case

It's finally back in stock!

A year ago we introduced you to the Graham Beck Brut Rose' calling it one of the finest Methode Champenoise sparkling Roses' we'd ever tasted for under $30 retail.  The response was immediate and nearly overwhelming. Unfortunately, a short time later the supplier lost the import contract and availability quickly dried up.  Recently however, one of the finest wholesalers in the country picked up the brand and (at our request) imported a quarter pallet of the Rose' exclusively for our shop.

Comparable to $40-Plus French Champagne

You'd be hard pressed to find another Hand-Harvested, Vintage dated, Cork Finished, Methode Champenoise (88% Pinot Noir/12% Chardonnay) Brut Rose' of this quality for under $25.00.  At $17 bucks and change I believe your task would be impossible.

And Frank Gorshin as...*"The Riddler!"

The Beck Brut Rose' is made in the traditional (and costly) French tradition of "Methode Champenoise".  In this manner the wine is bottled with a "dosage" (a combination of sugar and yeast) and allowed to develop its bubbles via a secondary fermentation.  When the process is completed, (which takes months as the individual bottles must be "riddled"...the guy who does the riddling is called the "Riddler") slowly from the horizontal to the up-side-down position which causes the "plug" of spent yeast cells to sink to the neck of the bottle where it is frozen and removed while topping with a small amount of finished wine before installing the cork. The cap and cage are attached and BOOM! You've got a Champagne-styled sparkling wine.

We're told to forget about sub $30 French Champagnes...

It's not hyperbole that French Champagne prices are rising

By as much as 50% as you read this.  All the big houses

Claim that they've held the line long enough and are now forced to adjust their pricing to reflect the Euro/Dollar exchange rate, shipping and fuel costs, import taxation etc.  This means that the average bottle of French Brut Champagne could be nearing the $50 price point by the fall.

Both the Pinot Noir and Chardonnay are hand picked.  The Pinot came in at 20. Brix for complexity, weight and length of flavor, the Chardonnay at 18.-19.5 for crispness, fruit and elegance.  The Pinot and Chardonnay were pressed in the same unit.  Fractional recovery form the whole bunches ensured that only the quality juice went into fermentation.  After completion, the wine was lightly fined and bottled for the secondary fermentation.  A minimum lees contact time was allowed before a disgorging of 15 months.

"Extremely attractive salmon pink in color (the Brits describe the Beck's color as "eye of the Partridge").  Nose of fresh-baked bread in a bakery at 4:00 A.M. Sexy, ripe strawberries and raspberries from the Pinot Noir are supported by a creamy, citrus infused complexity from the Chardonnay.  The wine is fairly weighty in texture (I do not like bubbly without body) with a pin-point line of little beads marching their way through the rose-colored liquid to burst and sizzle when they reach the surface.

You could easily convince even the most jaded bubbleheads that the Beck was $60 French from one of the famed houses of Epernay or Reims.
